Bihar Assistant Professor Eligibility Criteria 2026

The eligibility requirements to apply for assistant professor recruitment are as follows:

Educational Qualification:

• You have pursued a master’s degree in any of the above-mentioned subjects from a UGC-recognized university with a 55% score; the minimum requirement is only 50% for SC, ST, BC (Non-Creamy Layer), EBC (Non-Creamy Layer), and Persons with Disabilities category candidates.
• Additionally, you have passed the UGC-NET or Joint CSIR-UGC NET examination held by the NTA in the relevant subject or have completed the PhD in that subject.

Age Limit:

• You are not younger than 21 years or older than 43 years as of August 01, 2026.
• The upper age relaxation is 3 years for BC and EBC and 5 years for SC and ST. 
• There’s an additional age relaxation for 10 years for PwBD-category candidates.

The selection process for assistant professor consists mainly of two stages: academic qualification assessment and interview-cum-teaching demonstration, with the weightage of 88 marks and 12 marks, respectively. They will shortlist you for an appointment only if your score in the first and second stages meets or exceeds the final cutoff marks.

Bihar Assistant Professor Pay Scale 2026

If you are appointed as an assistant professor, you will get basic pay of ₹57,700 per month with applicable dearness allowance. Notably, the dearness allowance as of now is 60%, meaning the monthly salary you will get is ₹92,310. If DA increases, you will see an increase in your payment also. Note that you won’t be able to avail yourself of the benefit of HRA, medical, and other allowances.
