Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria to apply for the CGPSC Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2026 are available below in terms of educational qualifications and age limit. Refer to the listed points to check if you are eligible to apply for the same.
Educational Qualification:
- 10+2 with at least 50% marks and a 2-year diploma in elementary education, or
- 10+2 with at least 45% marks and a 2-year D.El.Ed. obtained as per the NCTE, 2002, or
- 10+2 with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education, or
- 10+2 with at least 50% marks and a 2-year diploma in education (special education), or
- Graduation with a 2-year diploma in elementary education.
Age Limit:
- Your age shouldn’t be below 21 years and above 35 years as of January 1, 2026.
- The upper age relaxation is applicable for 5 years for SC and ST and 3 years for OBC-NCL.

Selection Process
The selection process for the CGPSC Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2026 consists of a single stage, which is a written examination. They will prepare a final selection list based on the candidates’ performance in this stage. You will be shortlisted for appointment only if your score in this examination meets or exceeds the cutoff marks.
Exam Date
The Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission will conduct the written examination on October 11, 2026, at the 16 district headquarters across Chhattisgarh. Notably, they will conduct this examination with a time duration of 2 hours 15 minutes from 10:00 AM to 12:15 PM. To participate in the examination, you have to report to the respective exam center at least an hour before the gate closing time.
Exam Pattern
The CGPSC will conduct the written examination in offline mode using the OMR sheet. They will ask a total of 100 objective-type questions from eight different subjects, which are as follows.

Each question carries a weightage of 1 mark, and there’s also a provision of negative marking of 0.25 marks. The medium of the examination is set to be English and Hindi.
