The MPSC conducted the Maharashtra Subordinate Services Non-Gazetted Group B Combined Examination (Prelims) on June 14, 2026, for the recruitment of Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) under the Police Department, State Tax Inspector (STI) under the Tax Department, and Assistant Section Officer under the General Administration Department.

They conducted it against a total of 552 vacancies, in which a large number of candidates participated: those who applied for the recruitment drive. The commission held it in offline mode using the OMR sheet, whose evaluation process is taking place. Reportedly, they will complete it by last June, 2026, and then announce the result in July 2026.

If you have participated in the first stage of the selection process for any of these positions, note that the MPSC will announce the result as a merit list in PDF format. On the very same document, you will find qualified candidates’ hall ticket numbers. Your roll number will be available only if your score meets or exceeds the cut-off marks in the examination.

Reportedly, the cut-off marks will be available on the last page of the merit list, although there’s no confirmation regarding it. The Maharashtra Public Service Commission has officially dated for the second stage of the selection process. They will conduct the main examination on December 5, 2026, in offline mode using the OMR sheet. The second stage consists of two papers: Languages (Paper 1) and General Ability and Job-Specific Aptitude (Paper 2).

Notably, in Paper 1, they will ask 50 questions, each of 2 marks, from Marathi and English, meaning Paper 1’s weight is 200 marks; and in Paper 2, you will answer 100 questions, each of 2 marks, from current affairs, the Indian Constitution, the history & geography of Maharashtra, mental ability, arithmetic, and post-specific aptitude. After the main examination, the MPSC will announce the result as a merit list in PDF.

Candidates who applied for the PSI position need to participate in the Physical Efficiency Test; if they qualify, they will appear in the interview, and then the commission will prepare the final selection list for PSI based on the score in the main examination and interview. The MPSC will do the final selection for the positions of STI and ASO based on the sole score in the main examination.
