The IOB has released the notification for recruitment of security guards for a total number of 25 vacancies; the complete breakdown is as follows:
- SC: 4 vacancies
- OBC: 7 vacancies
- EWS: 2 vacancies
- UR: 12 vacancies
There are no reserved vacancies for the candidates who belong to Scheduled Tribes.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for IOB Security Guard recruitment in Tamil Nadu, a candidate must be either an ex-serviceman or ex-Agniveer from the Army, Navy or Air Force and meet the educational qualification, age limit, and language requirement.
- Educational Qualification: Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Class 10) from a school recognised by the TNDGE or CBSE.
- Age Limit: 18 to 26 years.
- Language Requirement: Tamil. The candidate must know how to read, write and speak it.
Notably, the upper age limit is up to 45 years for ex-servicemen.

Selection Process
The selection process for the security guard recruitment under the Indian Overseas Bank consists mainly of three stages, which are the Online Objective Test, Local Language Test, and Physical Fitness Test. Let’s have a closer look at each.
- Online Objective Test: Candidates are firstly required to participate in this stage, which may take place by late 2026. It will take place with a time duration of 90 minutes. There will be a total number of 80 MCQs, 20 from each psychometric test, arithmetic test, aptitude test, and knowledge of English language.
- Local Language Test: Candidates who pass the first stage will have to sit in this stage. It will be of only 20 marks.
- Physical Fitness Test: After clearing the second stage, aspirants will have to participate in the third one, which has a 1 km run of 50 marks, push-ups of 25 marks, and sit-ups of 25 marks.
The final selection list will be prepared based on the candidates’ performance in the first and second stages, i.e., out of 200 marks.
Pay Scale
Candidates who will be appointed as security guard recruits at any Indian Overseas Bank branch will get the salary under the pay scale of ₹19,500 to ₹37,815. The monthly salary that will be received from the former will include the starting basic pay, dearness allowance, and other benefits as per the rules of the banking rules in India.
