Number of Vacancies
They have made public the notification for a total of 186 vacancies, out of which 55 are for the unreserved category, 41 for the economically weaker section, 39 for the other backward class, 35 for the scheduled caste, and 16 for scheduled tribes. Notably, 8 vacancies are horizontally reserved for people with benchmark disability candidates.
Eligibility Criteria
You can apply for this recruitment if you are an Indian citizen; have pursued a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, a bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences, or a bachelor’s degree in medicine with a specialization in clinical pharmacology or microbiology; and are not above the age of 30 years.
If you are above the age of 30 years but belong to the Other Backward Class (Non-Creamy Layer), Schedule Tribes, or Schedule Tribes, then you can claim the age relaxation. The age relaxation is 3 years for OBC-NCL and 5 years for SC and ST.
Application Fee
In order to submit an application form for this recruitment drive, you have to pay the application fee of 25 rupees using a debit card, credit card, NET, or UPI. If you are female or male but belong to the SC, ST, or PwBD category, you need not pay any amount.
Selection Process
The UPSC is going to shortlist candidates based on their performance in the qualifying degree for the interview. They have notified that if more than the expected number of application forms are received, they will conduct the recruitment test, and those who pass it have to sit for the interview.
Notably, the Union Public Service Commission will prepare the final selection list for appointment based on the score in the interview. If the recruitment test is not, then the aggregate score of both stages will be considered to prepare the result for the appointment of a drug inspector.
Pay Scale
If you are appointed as a drug inspector under the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, you will get your salary based on the Level 8 pay matrix under the 7th Central Pay Commission, which ranges from ₹47,600 to ₹151,100. The salary you will get includes starting basic pay and applicable dearness allowance, house rent allowance, and others.
